● Definitions of and Models for Defining Disability
○ WHO: Disability is an umbrella term, covering impairments, activity
limitations, and participation restrictions. An impairment is a problem in
body function or sturcture; an activity limitation is a difficulty encountered
by an individual executing a task or action; while a participation restriction
is a problem experience by an individual in involvement in life situations
○ ADA: According to the American with Disabilities Act, a person with a
disability has a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one
or more major life activities; has a record of such an impairment; or is
regarded as having an impairment.
