 Peristalsis

o Increases peristalsis: vagus nerve, mechanoreceptors, chemoreceptors
Peptic Ulcers: lesions in stomach or duodenum; bleeding & perforation, imbalance of gastric
acid & mucus secretion
1. Histamin2-receptor antagonists
 Treat:
o Gastric and duodenal ulcers
o Heartburn, dyspepsia
o Erosive esophagitis
o Gastrointestinal reflux disease (GERD)
o Aspiration pneumonitis
o Hypersecretory disorders such as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome (gastrin), systemic mastocytosis
(histamine)
